Position Summary:


Mukele Moni and Company Advocates is looking for an advocate to join their team. The advocate will play a key role in the growth of the firm in Kenya and the region.  We are looking for a competent, diligent and collaborative legal practitioner who is able  to effectively articulate legal issues. The Advocate will partner with the legal team in Nairobi and Kakamega and will work closely with the Managing Partner.


Key Responsibilities:


Draft and review of legal documents;

Provide legal opinions and advice on different any areas of the law;

Review legislation;

Consult with clients and counsel;

Provide high quality legal service to all clients;

Conduct negotiations with a view to settling potentially litigious matters;

Increase revenue through achieving fee targets and time targets;

Research diverse issues to ensure accuracy of opinions and advice;

Keep abreast of changes in law;

Handle requests for legal advice from existing and potential clients as appropriate;

Source/ attract business from new and existing clients;

Ensure safe custody of the firms’ instruments and documents.

Ensure confidentiality and privacy of all legal documents and data of the firm.

Participate in the training and sensitization of clients on different areas of law.

Pupillage Programme

Mukele Moni and Company Advocates, a leading law firm with its headquarters in Nairobi, is seeking to engage highly motivated students to undertake an intense Pupillage Programme for a period of one (1) year commencing January 2022.

The firm offers an exciting and rewarding mentorship programme in various areas of law, including civil litigation, constitutional law, commercial law, corporate law and conveyancing law. The successful pupils shall be selected from applicants who possess the following qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree, minimum Second-Class Honours from a recognized university.

Requirements:

Position Summary:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a passionate Advocate to join Mukele Moni and Company Advocates in their Nairobi Office. You will be motivated by the opportunity to play a key role in the success of the firm in Kenya and the region. You will partner with the legal team in Nairobi and Kakamega. You will work closely with the Managing Partner and handle various matters including conveyancing, legislative drafting, legal research, law and policy, matters related to commercial and corporate transactions, property, banking and securities law.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate, draft and review of commercial contracts on behalf of our clients;
  • Advise clients on legal aspects of business and conveyancing transactions;
  • Conduct due diligence on conveyancing transactions, drafting, reviewing contracts and oversee the registration of the same, where applicable;
  • Interpret laws and regulations for individuals, corporate organizations and provide timely legal opinions on matters relating to property, real estate and commercial transactions;
  • Oversee the fast-tracking & diligent handling of all client matters before the different registries and government/county offices;
  • Coordinate with the relevant key stakeholders such as the mortgage lenders, estate agents, land valuers and surveyors;
  • Develop lasting client relationships and actively building on experiences that support our client needs;
  • Manage the delivery of client work professionally to an agreed plan;
  • Continuously develop, improvements for internal process and templates for the various agreements;
  • Provide and ensure that content on the firm’s website related to commercial, corporate transactions, conveyancing, property and real estate are up to date;
  • Develop articles on emerging issues on the various areas of law;
  • Supervise and direct the pupil’s and legal assistants;
  • Effect legal formation of entities and oversee compliance with the applicable laws and regulations;

  • Actively participate in the business development of the firm including setting up meetings with both existing and potential clients;

Minimum Qualifications/Skills/Competencies Required

  • Minimum of 8 years post admission experience working in busy law firm preferably in Conveyancing section;
  • A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university;
  • Post Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law;
  • Certificate of Admission to the Roll of Advocates of the High Court of Kenya;
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field will be added advantage;
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office software;
  • Excellent research, analysis and presentation skills;
  • Excellent organizational, project management and communication skills;
  • Competent, prompt, diligent and ability to work under pressure;
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information in a sensitive and tactful manner;
  • A proven track record in handling conveyancing work from tier 1 banks in Kenya is highly desirable;
  • Experience in handling corporate and commercial matters will be an added advantage;

PUPILLAGE OPPORTUNITY

Mukele Moni & Company Advocates is looking to recruit pupils for its Pupillage program for the year 2021. We offer an exciting and rewarding program with an all-round hands-on experience. An allowance will be provided during the Pupillage period.

The successful applicants will commence their Pupillage program in March/April 2021 on a full-time basis. The program will run for the prescribed period of Six (6) months and maybe extended on account of exemplary performance by the pupil.
